James Gunn, the director of the Guardians of the Galaxy series who was working on Guardians 3, was recently fired by Disney after a large number of revolting old tweets joking about subjects like rape and pedophilia were discovered by an alt-right conspiracy buff, Mike Cernovich Some people are angry at Disney saying that they were decade old jokes while others say that Disney was right to fire someone who spews such revolting shit. Many also aren't convinced they were actually jokes, and there's been much comparison and contrasting to the Rosanne situation. Thoughts?

My 3 viewpoints
1. That's what you get. You either stay anonymous or don't say shit like that, joke or nor.
2. It is only a joke, employers shouldn't crack down on employees for their sense of humor and opinions, it's limiting our freedom of speech.
3. Disney have a profile to keep up, they can't "endorse" people like this, and employment is something that will be seen as endorsement.

If it was anyone else other than Cernovich bringing this to light I might have actually cared. But he played his cards. He's too busy trying to make strawmen look bad too go "huh, maybe this guy was actually joking".

Gunn has been very outspoken about his support for abuse related charities etc. Highly doubt that a high profile figure would be actually serious about the stuff he wrote on a public Twitter. Alt-Right dickheads like Cernovich are too busy trying to paint his political opponents as pedophiles to do anything actually useful;

Also; he doesn't seem very well mentally DimChFaWkAAr122.jpg
