When will Call of Duty fall off?

When do you think Call of Duty will be irrelevant? For the last decade it's been very influential, to the point that most shooters try to copy it. This has happened with other games too, namely Doom and Quake, but that's not the case anymore

So how long do you think this fad with cod will last?

I think CoD will last quite awhile. It will probably continue losing players, but I don't see it ever losing its core audience of kids and casuals.

Call of Duty is like a cancer cell. It will keep growing and multiplying even though every one hates it. The only way for it to stop is to irradiate it at the source. This source is what is called "Activision".

I don't think it'll be irrelevant for a while. A lot of us, are used to this kind of discussion. A lot of our lives are centered around talking about how certain games are dying off. But we're the minority. The majority of people buying into the same ol shite every single year and pre-ordering shite are your lowest common denominator. I'd hate to use the word, but a "normie". They don't watch interviews or reviews or conduct gaming discussion. And when they do its with other people who don't discuss this kind of stuff.

Sure Activision will say "Call of Duty Infinite Warfare was a flop", but from the sales numbers and the amount of money they did make... it sold quite well. Publishers aren't out to earn SOME money, they're out to earn ALL the money. That's why, often times, games that do sell very well are called "flops". They don't meet the HUGE expectations of the publisher. CoD has slowly rotted away, but there are people who will still pre-order the shit out of a new CoD game.

just think about it... this time a few years ago all you would hear about is COD this that and the 3rd... there was so much hype around it even up to ghosts... now ppl don't even talk about the shit

irrelevant (outside of middle/highschool cafeterias)

It's already dead, give it one more release for that death to be fully realised. Unless they entirely revamp it, two to three year development cycles, better gauging of what people want etc. Though most of its fanbase has already decided its bad, so a comeback is quite hard.

They already have 3 year development cycles, they have 3 studios making cod individually, so they develop the game for more than a year
